Weekend Cooking- My Two New Favorite Low-Cal Snacks

This post is part of Beth Fish Reads' Weekend Cooking.  If you have anything related to food, cookbook reviews, novel or non-fiction book reviews, recipes, movie reviews, etc., head over to Beth Fish Reads and add your post. Or, if you want to read food related posts, head over to read what some interesting people have to say about food!

You know how sometimes you just need a little chocolate? When I feel that way, I pull out one of my new favorites- Skinny Cow Dreamy Clusters. Described as 'crunchy crisps and creamy caramel drenched in milk chocolate', you get six small candies in a package for 120 calories.

They are very rich tasting, and definitely satisfy that late afternoon hunger. There are six packages in the box, and they run about $4.50 a box. One box will last me about a week. I like the fact that they are very chewy, you feel like you have consumed something, not just popped a little thing in your mouth.

My other new favorite is Creamsicle's Orange & Raspberry covered ice cream bars. Perfect for this heat wave we've been having, they have low fat vanilla ice cream on the inside covered with raspberry or orange sherbet on the outside. A bit more sophisticated than your ordinary popsicle, they are a little cold treat and at only 70 calories, you don't feel guilty eating them.

What are your favorite treats? Post them in comments below.

  1. I love Creamsicles! Would never turn down a fudge bar either. Have to try the Skinny Cows, they look great! I always have new favorites :) Lately I really like the Special K Chocolate Pastry Bars, 2 little cookie bars in a package, under a 100 calories. Some days you just need chocolate!

  3. Those look good! I've been making frozen yogurt. My most recent batch is cantaloupe.

  4. Oh those frozen bars sound perfect. And at only 70 cals, you can have one when it's just too hot for words.
